Mouse Overview

Drawing Windows

The mouse is primarily of use in the drawing windows, where its function is determined by whether or not the Color Map Editor winodw is visible or not.

If the Color Mar Editor is not showing, clicking the mouse in a drawing window will recenter the parameters in the parameters window so that the next drawing will be centered on the point on which you clicked, provided no further modifications are made. This is true whether or not the parameters window is visible. One can also drag the mouse (i.e. click down, move the mouse, and then release) diagonally over the fractal picture. In that case an outline of the rectangle defined by the drag will be drawn over the picture. Also the arguments in the parameters window will change so that the next picture drawn will be the contents of the rectangle, provided no further modifications are made.

If the Color Mar Editor is showing, clicking the mouse in a drawing window will select the color of the pixel clicked on for editing in the Color Map Editor window. Dragging the mouse works as when the Color Map Editor is not visible.

The mouse can also be used to rotate the fractal picture the for next time it is drawn. This is done by selecting either "Mouse H axis" or "Mouse V axis" menu items in the "Axis" menu of any drawing window or the parameters window.

In the Color Map Editor

Besides being able to select a color map entry from the fractal image for editing, you can click on a color in the left side of the Color Map Editor to select it.

"Ramping" and copying colors in the Color Map Editor is done by using the mouse. For more on this see The Color Editor Window in detail.
